Whats going on??? Let me tell ya! :)

Hi Everyone,

It has been a long time! I have been in contact with Dee and Shawn through this time. The first thereapy DeeAnna had was called Froton, and she said it felt like it was frying her brain! and it made the inside of her lips crack open. That was for the first week.
Now she is on Proton thereapy, she said they put a mask on her and then put her head in a cage. She is doing really good and has even done some sight seeing!

There are times of course when she just sits and cries because she misses her kids so much. Her in-laws did fly them home for one weekend and she loved it! The kids were so happy to see them that they just climbed and hung all over them.

I would like to raise enough money to fly them out again to see their kids. The kids had gotten sick last week and the youngest has a touch of pneumonia  but is getting better.
We have changed emails, so now when donating to paypal the name is catobeshaw@gmail.com as we were getting hacked through AOL.

I know she would LOVE to hear from you all! So I am putting an address here where you can write or send her things.

They are saying her last day there for thereapy may be March 4th, and that is still a long time for her not to see her kids. Lets see what we can do to help them out, and put the smiles back in their faces!
Thank you all so much for all your support during this time, you are wonderful!

Dee and Shawn arrive at Hope Lodge

Another set back

Hi Everyone,

It has been awhile I know, but we have been busy

We were doing well on the money part, but have a had a set back. While Dee, Shawn and Aston were in the van driving.......the transmission went out! Shawn pushed the van by himself into a parking lot and off the road. He then walked home to get his jeep and went back for Dee and Ashton

But it costed around $2400.00 for the new transmission they had put in, as they might drive to Boston in it. We are hoping that donations will still come in. If you can print off the front page with Dee's information and pictures and put it in some place of business you know might let you, it sure would help. I think we are done with the fund raisers but still have a ways to go.

DeeAnna will now be gone 2 months, that means 2 months of bills at home to pay while they are away, providing for the kids also while they are gone and paying to stay in Boston for 2 months, the expense of getting there and back and just living there too.

I hope you can help out, if you have already donated Thank you so much, as every bit helps
DeeAnna is still doing about the same. Her left eye still does not work and she has headaches again. She is trying to be strong for other people and sometimes it is hard for her to hold up that image.
She looks normal except for her eye, so some people think "if you don't look sick...you must not be sick" well she is still sick, and still has cancer. I'll tell you, she is a tough cookie! And she has been through a lot, and is trying very hard to act normal, live normal and not let it bother her, but sometimes it just catches up to her.

Her son Aaron cries everytime they talk about Dee and Shawn going to Boston, it is going to be really hard on him, we are working on trying to help him before she goes but he just can't deal with it, only being 5 years old. He is not really sure what 2 months is, but he knows it is a very long time.

I hope you will do what you can to help, Thanks so much!! She will be leaving for Boston on Jan. 2, 2008 not to far away, she wanted to be here for the Holidays with her kids
Thanks again!
Cathy

What we heard today........

We had a phone conference between DeeAnna, her Husband Shawn, myself and the Doctor from Boston. He told us what we needed to get things moving. I will be with them tomorrow to start putting together what he wants.
The bad news is.......he told us DeeAnna would have to be in Boston for 2 months! She is very, very upset over this. She had a real hard time accepting 6 weeks, the 2 months all but shattered her. The tears, hurt and anger are all new all over again. It will be very hard for her to be away from her kids and family.

The doctor also said that what she has is very, very rare. He said he has only seen 400 people with and only 25 people in a year. Out of the population of the U.S. that is very rare. He also said she has a great chance, 95% of the people who have this done were tested after 10 years and were cancer free! That is good to hear.

We really need to step up on the donations, as 2 months is longer, and not only staying there, but taking care of things back here at their home and their children's needs. We don't want them to have to worry about anything. We are still making plans for her to go in Jan. next year, as she wants to spend the Holidays with her kids and family before leaving. It will be hard for their children to understand why they are gone so long, and I know it won't really hit them with understanding until they have been gone awhile.

I will keep you posted and update too. DeeAnna has not been feeling well, her head has been hurting where her scar is, and she has caught the virus her children had. Of course there are the little accidents, when Ashton being in the terrible two stage, throws something and she doesn't see it out of her bad eye and she gets hit with it on her surgery side of the head. Or poor Aaron, who also forgets went to give his Mom a BIG kiss and grabbed her head with both of his hands really hard. Taking her shopping is hard too as she can't see what she might bump into or who!

She is very strong and has really tried to handle this with flying colors, and keeps her chin up. It just seems that somethings always comes along to bring her back down. She is a Daughter I wouldn't have traded for anything, though at times I thought she would finally crack me! LOL She is a Wonderful Mother and Wife, and the very Best Friend you could want. She would do anything for anyone and always has. I am so glad that people are there for her now, all the donations, the cards, the comments and guest book signings, there are all fantastic! Thank you also for all of you in the back ground, the fund raisers, and all the little things here and there make a difference and mean so much. Even just a hug helps. It amazes her how many people care, but I don't think she understands how many people she was there for  too.

I am very proud of my Daughter, I am also very proud of my Son in Law Shawn. I know it has been hard for him too. Her moods can swing at any given time and he has been great. He Loves her very much and is a great Father too! I can only see great things in the future for this loving family who are blessed with so many wonderful friends and family.
Thank you, all of you from the bottom of my heart.

More on DeeAnna

Hello!
I know it has been a little while since I have been on but like many others I am very busy
Not only am I helping Deeanna out, but my Mother also has cancer and I go and take care of her house as well as my own, and many things with my youngest daughter in high school.

DeeAnna is doing good. They had tried to put her on 2 different antidepressants but they made her ill, so she will not be taking them, but seems to be ok without them.
Her children are sick right now with some kind of flu symptoms, we hope she does not get it! She is talking about going back to work, maybe around the end of this month and get some work time in before going to Boston for her 6 weeks there.

She is driving!!! Yes she is, but being very careful. The surgeon said it was ok, so she has been like running down to the store and drove to her Sister Jen's new apartment. Which is very nice She wants to send a Big Thank you out to all who have donated and who have sent cards and called. It is unbelieveable how many people really care, and she is in awe.

Things are going good, but we are still doing benefits and raising money. Thank you all again! It really means a lot to us
Cathy

A beautiful weekend

We have a beautiful weekend outside and the sun is shinning. I am home today and thought I would write more to you.
All of your comments and guest book entries are fantastic, DeeAnna loves to hear them, some bring tears to her eyes, and some bring smiles, either way they are good It is nice to know that so many people care.
She still cries a lot though, we are hoping the surgeon she sees on Thursday will give her some anti-depressants. She hopes every morning she opens her eyes together at the same time, that she will be able to see, and it really frustrates her when she can't.

She is still so very emotional about leaving her kids behind while she and her husband go away to Boston for 6 weeks, it is really tearing her up. But she knows it is the best thing to do, and 6 weeks is better then never seeing them again if she doesn't get this done and the cancer keeps growing.

We still are in need of donations, if you can't for some reason use the donation button, you can mail a check or money order made out to DeeAnna Flack and mail it to 4337 East Michigan Ave. Jackson Michigan 49201 and it will get to her. Or if you just want to send her a card, that will brighten up her day

She is still in shock from seeing Ron Rutherford write to her and she LOVED IT!!!! Thank you Ron!!! You put a big smile on her face She is doing more around the house now, no heavy lifting but she is helping out and reading to the kids, which they love.

I am catching up here on my own things, as I have been helping her and my Mother, (who has esphogus cancer) so sometimes things build up here, but I will try and keep posting to you all to keep you updated.
Thank you to everyone for fund raisers, and gifts!
There are people where she works, who we send a big THANK YOU out to you You know who you are!!

I am hoping she will be able to get on here soon and repsond to comments herself too.
Have a great weekend everyone, lots of love and prayer right back at ya!
Thanks!!!
Cathy

Update on Deeanna

Hi Everyone,
I am so happy to see all the comments to DeeAnna. She did have enough time to read them, but not enough time to reply, but I will tell you, it put a smile on her face and a few tears. It really means a lot to her that so many people care

She did see the cancer counselors and they will be putting her on some anti-depressants and they will keep on seeing her.  She is feeling depressed and of course not "normal" and that is to be expected, but she always keeps a smile on her face for everyone. She is really such a trooper!

I think some of her eye control is coming back a little, the left I can work some if she covers her right eye, they just can't seem to work together yet. The side of her face is still in a lot of pain, but her head doesn't hurt as much. After Wednesday we will be posting some pictures of what she has gone through. And you will see for yourself what a tough cookie she is

Thank you for the donations, it is great, but we have a very long way to go. But using the donate button you can either write a check or use a credit card, it is really safe. I have been using Paypal for years, it is wonderful and you can also use it for online purchases!

I took her out to pay some of her bills today and we took the kids to McDonalds and let them play on the toys before we took her oldest son Aaron to school. We saw a notice at school for cub scouts and thought that might be a good thing for him to get into
Well time for me to get some of my own stuff done today. I hope the cooler air is on the way, whew!! It is hot!
Thanks everyone, and HUGS!
Cathy

A Good Day

DeeAnna is having her good days and bad days, a little upset now and then and depressed, though she tries to hide it from everyone so they don't worry.

But today her Mother in Law Kathy, came and took her out shopping and out to lunch and had a great day! She was laughing when I talked with her. (of course she was eating at that time! ) LOL

Her friends from wor k came out to see her and brought food, plates and even plastic silverware so there would be no clean up needed when they left. And she had a wonderful time! She misses being able to go to work. DeeAnna is the onl y person I know who loves to clean and get paid for it!!! LOL But most of all she misses the people there. S he has made so many friends at work and gets along with everyone. They say she walks around with a smile on her face all day everyday, and they are missing her smiles. She just has a way of making people feel good.

I am glad she had a good day, and I am very proud of her and they way she is holding up. She is such a trooper, she still worries about everyone else a nd feels bad that people have to help her, as that is usually what she does. But the shoe is on the other foot now and she will have to learn to sit back and get pampered

Thank you to those of you who have donated, She is very blessed to have such great friends, family and those special people out there who don't know her but cared enough to help out. A BIG THANK YOU to you all!!!

I am hoping to get DeeAnna here to my house soon, as the last storm blew her computer up and she needs a new one, but that won't be happening any time soon. But I would like her to see the wonderful respones from everyone one of you!

Hugs to all
Cathy

Yesterday........

Well, about an hour after I left yesterday.......DeeAnna was looking in the freezer (she has a side by side doors) and while her head was in there, her youngest son Aston came up and slammed the door to close it. It is one of his favorite things is to shut doors.
Well he ended up closing it on her head! On the side she had surgery. She thought she heard a crunch sound. So we are watching her and putting ice packs on her. I think she will be alright, and will call and see how she is doing today.

If she is well enough we will go and set up a bank account for donations and post that here also.
Thank you everyone for all your support, please reach into your heart and donate if possible, every dollar counts

comments :)

Please feel free to leave comments under what I write, all you have to do is click the "add comment" button.

Dee is feeling tired, she has trouble sleeping at night. She gets up on and off during the night as tends to sleep in during the day.
She was always so active, that is it very hard for her to sit still and watch everyone do the things she longs to do for herself again, and gets frustrated that she isn't "normal" and just wants this to be over and done. She is not even allowed to bend over and pick her kids up yet.

We keep telling her how well she is doing, but she is getting depressed, I hope you all can help me keep her spirits up
Thank you to all of you behind the scenes, who have helped and those of you for the donations!
Cathy (Mom)
